Feedback and Comments about School
Below are some comments and feedback we have had from pupils, parents/carers, staff and visitors.
"I love my school. I like how it's all about nature. We've got goats and chickens and maybe even fishes and frogs in the pond. And each class is named after a different natural thing. And the school's even named after a natural thing. It's in a natural place as well, because it's in the park " - Year 3 pupil
"Just to let you know Carnival Day was brilliant! Everyone was well happy. Was the first time since I have been a parent at Bracken Edge that we've seen the whole school in the park. Amazing. More of this please!" - Parent
"You don’t just focus on the children you focus on the community and really care-thank you" - Parent
"I just wanted to say a massive thank you from me. For giving me the opportunity to be part of a school team, a role which I have thoroughly enjoyed. It has opened a whole new world and given me a chance to develop. Also, thanks for sending me on the training course! " - Staff member
"Carnival was just fantastic this morning. It was so lovely to see the children processing through the park with a really good turnout from parents and to finish it with each year group showing us their dance moves was great . There was a group of pupils from another school in the park who stopped what they were doing to watch. It has been such a challenging year for you and your team but I firmly believe you are winning hearts and minds." - School Governor
"The extra effort you made with our child built his self esteem, created trust and courage to share his worries. He has grown, developed and learnt in your care and we thank you so much" - Parent

Organising a Harvest Festival for 400 children is not easy and I decided that it would be amazing if we could use St Martins to host our 2024 event. Liaising with Sue, Doris, Jennie and Father Robin was seamless, and I can't thank them enough for making it happen, nothing was too much trouble. We decided on a theme of not wasting food and being thankful and set about learning some songs in school as we like a good old sing song at Bracken Edge! We mixed in the traditional All Things Bright and Beautiful with a more modern harvest festival song to the tune of George Ezra's Shotgun. This turned out to be a firm favourite with the lyrics still ringing in our ears!
"Home grown new potatoes, new tomatoes,
Gotta hit the farm, gotta hit the farm,
The Sun has changed in the atmosphere,
Farming life is so familiar,
I could get used to this.
I’ll be driving tractors, underneath the hot sun,
Felling like a someone (and repeat...)"
We brought lots of generous donations of tins, packets and jars of food and I know they will be well received by the All Hallows Rainbow Cafe and Moor Allerton Food Bank. Father Robin led a thoughtful service and was brilliant with our children and they all came away with smiles on their faces and definitely, "feeling like a someone". The feedback from the event was that some of our children and families had never been in a church and what a beautiful church it is. Parents and family members also really enjoyed it, and they said how much attending St Martins enhanced their experience. I really hope this is the start of a great partnership and that we could come again soon, it is a wonderful place of worship, and we are so lucky to have it on our doorstep and to be able to use it. I am certain that Harvest Festival 2024 at Bracken Edge will be one to remember and the memories will last a lifetime.
We are proud to have raised £490 for Grandad Wheels' charities!
